+ Can I send the children gifts?

Yes, but there are some things to consider before you decide to do this:

  • It can be expensive to send packages to Uganda, so it’s recommended that you check shipping costs before committing to this.
  • It may take 2+ months for packages to arrive. If you are wanting to send clothes or toys that are designed for a specific size or age, you should factor in the shipping time. For example, a child in size 3-6 months at the sending of the package, might be in size 6-9 months by the time the package arrives.
  • Gifts will be reviewed upon arrival by office staff to ensure that they are appropriate for the child and their developmental stage. Gifts that are found to be inappropriate will not be passed along to the child.
  • Because Hope Center functions as a community, we cannot ensure that a specific child will be the only one who will make use of your gift. Clothes, toys, etc. are shared among all the children.

+ Can I send additional money for a gift to be purchased for a child?

Yes, but there are some things to consider before you decide to do this:

  • The costs of items vary – sometimes greatly – between Uganda and other countries. Some items will be of a vastly different quality or cost, so it’s a good idea to reach out to the Hope Center first with an idea of what you’d like to purchase so that we can provide you a realistic estimate of cost and quality.
